Gustav update
ACTS World Relief
Gustav Update: ACTS partners with friends from hurricane Katrina in Waveland and Perlington. Waveland experienced 7 feet of flooding and Perlington, just East of New Orleans experienced 10-15 feet of flooding. Most of this was to thousands of FEMA trailers.
ACTS assisted Katrina survivors to the East of New Orleans for almost a year, and developed strong relationships with the local people, Mayors, Governor and local Emergency Operations Center. After Gustav, local EOC's issued a consistent memo that outside organizations were not needed. ACTS continues to work with Waveland EOC insiders which has re-invited ACTS to participate. Bryan who worked for ACTS in the Waveland area for almost a year organizing volunteer groups says: "Just as before, the media does not accurately reflect the huge needs of flooding which left thousands devastated once again with Gustav. ACTS is needed here once again in a desperate way."
One of ACTS mobile kitchens was pre-positioned in Mobile AL before Gustav, and hundreds of Youth and Adults were placed in the activation mode.
We praise God that Gustav did not become the storm of the century as predicted. ACTS is NOW training Trainers on the West Coast to increase it's army of youth from Loma Linda University to High Schools, who are desiring to become First Responders.
